I don't know anyone who enjoys calling customer support.
You wait through the automated menu, repeat the same information, listen to hold music and then wonder whether you could have solved the problem faster by doing almost anything else.
Google appears to be working on a way to make that entire experience somebody else's problem.
That somebody could be Gemini.
An APK teardown of the beta Phone by Google app has uncovered a work-in-progress feature called “Call for me”, internally referred to as “Hedwig.”
The code suggests Gemini could place a customer-service call, work through automated phone menus, wait on hold and bring you into the conversation only when a human representative is ready.
Google's unreleased “Call for me” feature could use Gemini to handle the most repetitive parts of customer-service calls.
What Is Gemini “Call for Me”?
Call for me appears to be a new Gemini-powered calling system being developed inside Google's Phone app.
Android Authority found strings in Phone by Google beta version 239.0.980790129 referencing “Call for me,” “Customer support” and the codename “Hedwig.”

This Is Google's Existing Phone Strategy Taken Further
Call for me would not come out of nowhere.
Google has spent years making phone calls less painful on Pixel devices.
Direct My Call can show automated menu options on screen and let users tap them instead of listening to a long list. Hold for Me can wait on hold and alert you when a representative is ready.
Google originally described Hold for Me as a Duplex-powered feature that could distinguish hold music, recorded messages and a live representative.
Call for me appears to combine those ideas with Gemini and push the automation one step earlier: the phone could potentially start the support call for you.
The User Could Still Stay in Control
This is one of the more reassuring details in the leaked interface.
Gemini would not necessarily take over the entire call without supervision.
The discovered strings include controls for Take over, Cancel and hanging up the call. There are also notifications indicating when Gemini is making the call.
You May Be Able to Follow the Call Without Listening
The beta strings suggest several monitoring options.
Users could potentially listen through the phone speaker, use a wired headset or switch to a “No audio” mode.
There are also signs of a transcript that could be copied or shared.
That would make the feature useful in a different way: you could visually monitor what is happening without sitting next to the phone listening to hold music.
The Privacy Disclosure Is the Part I Would Watch Closely
This is where the leaked code becomes much more consequential than a convenience feature.
Android Authority found a consent and telemetry string saying that information about the call could be sent to Google, including system logs and the full transcript.
The same string says the phone number and device ID would not be sent, while other information would be anonymized. It also says submissions may be reviewed by humans and used to train AI models.
That distinction is especially important because Google's current documentation for Hold for Me and Direct My Call describes a different privacy model: audio and transcripts are not sent to Google unless users choose to share them after a call.
Could Call for Me Become a Pixel-Only Feature?
Right now, nobody can say for certain.
The code discovered by Android Authority does not explicitly identify Call for me as Pixel-exclusive.
But Google's history makes the question reasonable.
Current Direct My Call documentation limits the feature to Pixel devices in the U.S. and U.K., while Google's Hold for Me documentation also describes it as a Pixel feature with regional and language restrictions.
